LAGUNA HILLS, CALIFORNIA: Scurrying about in the crisp
autumn air, a elderly homeless man living in the hills near
an affluent neighborhood frantically asks each and every person
he meets for help, but no one relents, each seeing themselves
as separate from and better than...and all the while looking
through him as if he is transparent. Night falls and the temperature
drops to near freezing. Trying to keep warm, the man lights
a small fire. Soon it spreads to the entire hillside neighborhood,
burning down most of the houses until...as if all at once...everyone
is homeless and cold; everyone is the same...as the man...on
the street. |
| That
is a true story from the fires of Southern California in the
early 1990s, just like the stories being told by Hurricane Katrina,
the ones about the heroes and the villains...the same as the
stories following the events of 9/11. Over and over again, human
tragedy brings forth the same message: we are all connected;
what we do to others, we do to ourselves. |
And
no matter how we separate ourselves, tragedy or love brings
us together, for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer...be
it Muslim, Jewish, Christian, Black, White, Asian or Indigenous,
etc. All of this is leading us somewhere....I have a feeling
we really need to pay attention. We're all in this together. |

On
September 11, 2001, the United States experienced the most significant
and violent attack by terrorists even on its own soil. The terrible
events that ensued have been linked to the mastermind of Osama
Binladin, the leader of the group Al-Qaeda.
Although the Binladin family group denounced their fallen son
and any political affiliation of Al-Qaeda, on the same day as
the terrorist attacks, the Binladin family website and all of
their web pages, links, emails and domain name EXPIRED -- on
September 11, 2001.
Shocked and curious about the possible connection between Binladin
and the war on America, I, Christopher Curry, a technology consultant,
began to investigate these events via the net.
I found a number of websites linked to Osama Binladin and began
to notice some startling parallels: the largest and most unbelievable
was the expiration of a website owned by the Binladin family:
www.saudi-binladin-group.com. |

The website domain cycle can be confusing - even to the most
savvy Internet domain name holders. Although the BINLADIN domain
names expired on September 11, 2001 - they did not "release"
until a "grace period" allowed them to be reinstated from the
original domain name holder (in this case, the Osama bin Ladin
family). This grace period is variable - particularly back in
2001 - when I originally wrote a piece of software which procured
the domain names once the original owner elected NOT to reinstate
it.
For the best graphic explanation of all this, I refer you to
the graphic from my friends at snapnames.com -
check out the grace period cycle at this link. It was not
until this grace period released the name that my own software
was able to capture this name from the Binladin family.

Cool, eh? Yet, proves that websites do not automatically expire
on their due date (and, even if they were, why not just pay
a registration fee - particularly if you have been
paid for such high priced construction projects)
As was reported in WIRED: "Having
the SBG domain registration expire on the day the United States
was attacked is "a hell of a coincidence," said Charles Boncelet,
a University of Delaware computer and information sciences professor,
who is an expert on the field of steganography -- the science
of hiding information. [WIRED October 2001] |
